Al Ahly captain and shot stopper Mohamed El-Shennawy has made it clear that his side aims for passing the Mamelodi Sundowns hurdle and reaching the CAF Champions League semifinal backed by the first leg’s victory.
Al Ahly is finalizing their preparations for the second leg clash against Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League quarterfinal after their first leg success with an important win two days ago.
The Reds managed to secure a 2-0 victory in Cairo against Sundowns thanks to goals from Taher Mohamed Taher and Salah Mohsen.
“We hope to secure qualification on Saturday in Pretoria just like last season when we made the semifinal,” El-Shennawy said.
“The senior players have a big responsibility in such anticipated encounters. It is not the first time we face Sundowns, we have been in South Africa for four days and we are preparing in a good manner.”
“Before Mosimane took over the team we paid a big attention to Sundowns. We are happy to work with, he is a very understanding person and is good at dealing with players. He discusses a lot with us and there is mutual respect between us.”
“Al Ahly is always ready and all players have one goal which is to go all the way and achieve the 10th African title.”
