Kaizer Chiefs has suspended Dumisani Zuma who was arrested last week for driving under the influence of alcohol and later released on R1000 fine!

Kaizer Chiefs is disappointed to learn of the recent alleged conduct of Dumsani Zuma as reported in the media and has taken the decision to immediately suspend him from all Club activities pending an internal disciplinary hearing.

His suspension is in the interests of all parties concerned and does not in itself carry any inference of guilt or prejudgement.

“His suspension is in the interests of all parties concerned and does not in itself carry any inference of guilt or prejudgement. The club will ensure the matter is resolved as quickly as reasonably possible.”

The 26-year-old, who has only recently returned to training following an injury layoff, was subsequently absent during Chiefs’ 2-1 win over rivals Orlando Pirates over the weekend, with the club now confirming that he has been suspended.

In last week’s pre-Soweto Derby press conference, Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter said Zuma was on the mend from an injury.

The club’s statement was terse, but said they haven’t judged the player to be guilty.
