New coach Dan Malesela was elated with his side’s come-from-behind 2-1 DStv Premiership victory over SuperSport United that earned him a winning start to his tenure at the Limpopo club.
The victory was a first of the season for Gallants and moved them off the foot of the table, having been earned thanks to a late winner from striker Lerato Lamola, his first goal in two years.
“It’s a good space to be in now when you come to the club and get your first win and the first win for the club as well. We had rain before the match and it was showers of blessings and one is very grateful,” said Malesela.
“I’m most grateful to the players because there were glimpses of what we did at training. You could see they were listening, and they adjusted to what we tried to do.
“Yes, of course there were mistakes here and there but overall a lot of the things that they did were not things they sucked out of their thumbs but rather things they were training during the week.
“If things go on this way, then the future will be bright for the team, we just need to keep listening and keep applying what we train and things will get better.”
Gallants host Maritzburg United on Wednesday in a catch-up fixture before they head to Lubumbashi to meet TP Mazembe in the play-off round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
