Golden Arrows will not face any points deduction in the DStv Premiership following the improper registration of player Simo Mbhele, the PSL disciplinary committee has confirmed.
Abafana Bes’thende had previously been found guilty of improperly registering Mbhele with the league at the start of the campaign but will avoid a harsh sanction after it was ruled that the club and player acted without dishonest intent.
“The exact amount is yet to be computed by the league, however, there was no decision with regard to any monetary fine or the deduction of points. It would be remembered that, in so convicting the club and player for said improper registration, the DC found that dishonourable or dishonest conduct was not proved by the league.
“That being the case, it felt that the sanction pertaining to the docking of points would thus be inappropriate in the circumstances, hence the decision it took regarding the reprimand and an adverse cost order. The matter is now regarded as finalised.”
Mbhele, who spent the last five years playing in the lower leagues in Portugal, has made eight appearances across all competitions for Golden Arrows since completing his return to South Africa at the start of the campaign. ©KickOFF
