MARITZBURG FIGHT BACK TO HOLD SUNDOWNS

Big game in matchday six against Maritzburg United, Last time both sides met it was a two-all draw. After five games the Brazilians have been busy collecting maximum points. Five wins and only a draw in the opening games.

Thabiso Kutumela started asking questions as early as the 13th minute but Denis Onyango was quick to clear the danger after he had a go at goal. The Brazilians kept their foot on the pedal and the home side finally opened the gates as “Mshishi” utilised the moment as Lebohang Maboe rolled one into his path and made no mistake in finishing! Kutumela kept on putting pressure but nothing yielded from his efforts, the Brazilians went into the second half with a one nil lead.

The First ten minutes of the second half saw the Brazilians press and almost get a second goal but Mwange made a great save. Kwanda Mngonyama equalised for the home side via a corner and leveled things at Harry Gwala. The front three keept pressing the team of choice as an opportunity fell for Zwane but his shot is deflected out.

The captain that is up for the FIFA Puskas award nomination showed why he got the nod again in 2020 as he blasted the ball from forty yards out and the keeper was called into action to make a well timed save to keep the shot out. With the clock winding down, Coach Manqoba Mngqithi received his marching orders from the referee Victor Gomes.

Masandawana kept pushing for the winner but the home side were fighting to salvage a point and they succeeded as the game ended in a 1 all draw.
