Orlando Pirates suspends Ben Motshwari after police charges filed
Orlando Pirates have confirmed they have suspended midfielder Ben Motshwari after he was charged by police on Monday morning.
No details as to the reason for Motshwari’s arrest have been forthcoming and the club say they will not comment further while the matter is before the courts.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has suspended midfielder Ben Mothswari after being charged by police this morning,” a club statement said. “Mr Motshwari will remain suspended, pending an investigation.
“The matter is subject to a legal process and the club is, therefore, unable to make further comment until that process is complete.”
The 30-year-old was a substitute for The Buccaneers in Saturday’s 3-1 away victory over Chippa United in the DStv Premiership.
He is closing in on 100 appearances for the club since his arrival from BidVest Wits in 2018.
