“It’s Really Important That We Get The Results With This One” – Haashim Domingo

Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United go head-to-head in Wednesday’s Tshwane derby at Loftus Stadium and Masandawana look imperious heading into the midweek derby against Matsatsantsa as they hold an 8-point lead over their rivals at the top of the DStv Premiership table. Bafana Ba Style midfielder Haashim Domingo was named man of the match in the draw against Cape Town City over the weekend and is looking forward to continuing with his excellent performance.

“[The aim for me] is just to continue with where I left off in terms of fitness, I can build on that and I will definitely be taking the confidence with me going into the next game. It’s really important that we get the results with this one, it was difficult to get results against Cape Town City but with this one we need to go all out and look for the three points.” Said Domingo.

The 26-year old has enjoyed his playing moments with the defending champions this season as his performances reach greater heights with each game played. Domingo stated that United’s midfielders are the players to look out for when they meet their rivals in the Tshwane derby.

“I think their midfield will be the key, it consists of Teboho Mokwena, Sipho Mbule [whilst] Thamsanqa Gabuza and Bradley Grobler upfront and it will give them that key aerial presence. I expect that it’s going to be a direct performance from them in terms of long balls and playing on the second ball. I think we need to stay very tight, pick up the second ball and establish play from there.”

Masandawana were held to a goalless draw by City, which ended their run of scoring in the league which dates back to the draw against Chippa United on the second matchday of the season. Meanwhile, in their most recent fixture, United lost their battle against Marumo Gallants  on home ground by 2 goals to 1,adding to their inconsistent form in recent weeks. Matsatsantsa have failed to taste victory against their neighbors in recent years and Downs will be looking to continue their unbeaten record when they face their unpredictable rivals.

“We are taking it day by day, we’ve analyzed SuperSport, we know what they are coming with and we just need to come up with solutions and that’s what we are working towards.”

Mamelodi Sundowns do battle with Super Sport United on Wednesday, 24 November at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Kick off is at 17h30, and the game will be broadcast live on SuperSport Channel 202.
