Swallows FC appoint Kerr as new coach

Swallows FC have appointed Dylan Kerr as their new coach, hoping the Englishman can perform yet another rescue act in the relegation battle.

The Birds sit at the foot of the DStv Premiership table with only two league wins in their last 31 games, and are in desperate need of a boost heading into the festive season break.

They fired the entire technical team following Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Kaizer Chiefs, and have move swiftly to secure the services of Kerr.

The 54-year-old has grown something of a reputation for helping struggling sides, having guided teams to safety in the last three seasons, only to leave at the end of the season.

He led Black Leopards avoid relegation in the 2018/19 season before quitting to be with his mother, who had terminal cancer.

Kerr joined Baroka FC in the 2019/20 campaign and guided them to safety too but was axed when the club claimed he had made untoward comments about management.

He then joined ailing TTM in 2020/21 and not only led them to safety, but also the Nedbank Cup title, but once again his services were not retained.

If he can get it right, then the Swallows FC job will certainly be his biggest in the Premiership at a club with more potential than his previous sides.
