Iheanacho’s first-half strike earns Nigeria win against Egypt

A lone first-half strike by Kelechi Iheanacho earned Nigeria’s Super Eagles a win against the Pharaohs of Egypt in the opening match of Group D at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The 2013 winners got the breakthrough in the 31st minute when Joe Aribo’s knockdown found Iheanacho who took once touch before rifling the ball into the back of the net.

Carlos Quieroz’s charges were unable to find a way back into the contest as the Super Eagles did well to see out the rest of the encounter to begin Group D with maximum points.
